Areas of Practice
We have assisted clients by advising on tax efficient structures spanning two or more jurisdictions, including the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, and other European as well as some Asian countries.
- Large Construction Projects
We have significant experience in the tax planning of large multinational construction projects, covering both income tax and indirect taxes such as sales tax or VAT. We have also managed the overall tax function of large industrial projects during the project phase, covering both tax planning, cost segregation and tax compliance.
We have assisted clients optimize intellectual property from the tax perspective, including cross border structures and transactions.
In some cases we have helped identify existing IP which had not been recognized, thereby adding value both from the tax and commercial perspective.
Attention to compliance is always important, and may even be strategic in some cases. In the US and other highly regulated jurisdictions, more detailed attention to formal compliance is merited than in some other jurisdictions. We give compliance the recognition it deserves.
In addition to ensuring compliance with sales tax and VAT rules, we have structured sizable transactions to take them beyond the scope of the tax. We have also structured transactions to reduce or eliminate trapped VAT input tax credits.
