Types of Engagement
We act as an independent provider of tax advice or opinions to clients, including cases where other legal or accounting firms are involved. In some cases, our role is akin to that of a tax director, initiating or responding to positions as required by management. In other cases, the relationship is less formal, allowing for exchange of views and “bouncing of ideas”. Where required we monitor and advise on significant changes in tax legislation and Revenue practice relative to client-specific tax positions.
- Professional Relationships
In many cases we liaise with other professionals, either locally or on an international basis, including legal, accounting and tax firms. Our tax professionals have joined a Big 4 tax team where specific knowledge or skill set combinations are required.
We have assumed overall responsibility for taxes on large construction projects, covering income tax and sales tax / VAT, covering both planning and compliance.
We represent clients in a wide variety of dealings with Revenue, including Revenue challenges, tax controversy and tax audits. We also represent clients in tax planning where advance Revenue rulings or arrangements are appropriate.
We draft or amend contract documentation in cases where specific wording is required to achieve a desired tax effect.
